Our History

Real Resorts/Best Day Group started working in 1984 as a travel agency Best Day Tours with Mr. Fernando García Zalvidea as founder. Its main activity was to sell the first personalized tour services in A/C Limos in Cancun starting with 2 cars, which grew to 7 units in the first 18 months period while opening tour desks in the starting Cancun beach resorts and currently running over 30 tour desk concessions in hotels of Cancun and Mayan Riviera plus representing Destination Managing Services for over 40 international tour operators/wholesaler agencies from  United States, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, France, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Uruguay and Mexico.

BD Real Hotels, hotel management company, started operations in 1986 with 40 condos at the Kin-Ha Condo-hotel in Cancun growing to 150 condos managed in 1997. Subsequently they expanded for the Management of Gran Costa Real in 1993 making it the highest occupancy hotel in Cancun in 1995, most popular with wholesalers; and the first resort in Cancun occupancy in 1995, 1996 and 1997. Real Resorts has now a continued annual average of 90 + % occupancy.

Mr. Garcia’s vision of giving service with love and to “Exceed the Expectations” with the “all inclusive” convenient modality appease the growth of the group with the opening of the Gran Porto Real in November 1997 in Playa del Carmen accumulating an annual occupancy of over 90%, the former Gran Caribe Real (today Riu Caribe) opened its doors for the first time in February 1998 in Cancun, in 2003 the Gran Caribe was sold and in 2004 the Continental Villas Plaza with 638 rooms and villas was bought, renovated and rebranded as the New Gran Caribe Real of Cancun.  A new concept of luxury all inclusive was introduced with THE ROYAL in Playa del Carmen, which opened its doors in April 2005 making right away a raising bar of annual occupancy of over 90% as well; a redefinition of luxury all inclusive appeared with THE ROYAL in Cancun, which opened its doors in February 2007; started operating Real Playa del Carmen budget best located concept (leased for 10 years) in 2005.

Today Real Resorts Group operates Five hotels: THE ROYAL in Cancun (Luxury 5 Star + GT with 285 suites), THE ROYAL in Playa del Carmen (Luxury 5 Star + GT with 461 suites), Gran Caribe Real Resort and Spa (5 Star with 477 suites), Gran Porto Real Resort and Spa (5 Star with 272 rooms and suites) and Real Playa del Carmen (4 Star with 142 rooms and suites).

Currently Best Day Travel Agency and DMC offers services in over 30 concessions at hotels in Cancun and the Mayan Riviera, as well as in the Cancun’s International Airport; Best Day markets and sends clients to over 1,200 hotels and resorts in Mexico country with: bestday.com, cancun.com, vallarta.com, loscabos.com, plus over 200 eBusiness associates totaling over 70,000 Internet visits a day.

Real Resorts/Best Day Group has always been on vanguard in tourism technology and it has taken on stand as one of the most successful tourist organizations in the Caribbean.
